He proves her deceased husband to be a corrupt, bribe taking engineer-nullifying her efforts to prove exactly the opposite, which is true as it happens. However, his inherent honesty is soon apparent to her and an uneasy truce does reign, helped by the bond her daughter has developed with him. Down the line, he also corrects his inadvertent mistake about her husband, thereby proving that he is an honourable man.
